History

PRAGMATEK started out in 1989 as many consulting companies do: three sharp guys with an entrepreneurial bent sought to share their know-how with more than just their current employer. Spelled with a "K" for dramatic differentiation (or perhaps just poor spelling), the company's name conveys the combination of pragmatic solutions and technological savvy. For the first couple years of existence, the company focused on the highly specialized, intricate discipline of AFAB solutions*. By attracting and hiring like-minded professionals and completing successful engagements, PRAGMATEK quickly developed a reputation for high-end database expertise.

By the mid-1990s, databases had become more and more intertwined as "back ends" to enterprise applications, and clients naturally began asking PRAGMATEK for help with software selections and application implementation. So by the time "ERP" became a household acronym in IT circles, PRAGMATEK was already a recognized leader in the field. PRAGMATEK enjoyed tremendous growth in the late '90s as companies sought to kill many birds with one stone: update antiquated business systems, overcome Year 2000 problems, and use IT as a competitive advantage.

Post-Y2K and currently, PRAGMATEK recognizes and addresses the market need for clients to realize the promised return on their significant ERP investments. This is accomplished by applying proven demand and supply chain improvement methodologies, improving material, work, and information flows, measuring business metric performance and connecting these metrics to the client's P&L, then selecting and implementing optimization technologies.

Throughout PRAGMATEK's history, the company's leadership has espoused some pretty simple principles: work hard, have fun, be accountable and responsible, and do what's right for our clients. Our mission, vision, and values statement reflects these principles. As you can see from this company biography, we don't take ourselves too seriously. What we do take very seriously is maintaining a great environment for employees and the overriding commitment to our clients' success.
